Promise vs AI email assistants
Promise is built for follow-through, not autonomous inbox control.
Promise remembers what you need to follow up on, what you are waiting for, and the details worth keeping from Gmail, Outlook, and quick notes.
AI email assistants help with the inbox moment
Many AI email tools summarize messages, draft replies, or help you process a crowded inbox faster. Promise has a narrower job: finding commitments, follow-ups, dates, and important details that should come back later.
How Promise is different
- Promise treats Gmail and Outlook as sources for follow-through, not a new inbox.
- Promise can also capture commitments from short voice notes outside email.
- Promise preserves source evidence where possible, so extracted actions are reviewable.
- Promise does not send email without explicit user review and confirmation.
When Promise is the better fit
Use Promise when the risk is forgetting what mattered after the conversation ended: the reply you promised next week, the account detail you mentioned in passing, or the person-specific context you need before a follow-up.
Memory with receipts
Promise is designed around memory with receipts. It aims to keep the original context near the reminder, so you can inspect why Promise is surfacing something before you act on it.
Boundaries
Promise is not a fully autonomous email agent, does not replace Gmail or Outlook, and does not make unsupported claims about time saved. It helps you review and act on possible follow-through with clearer provenance.
